Scholarship Recipients

Central High School seniors complete one Panther Pride application form to be eligible to win any of the following scholarships that have been funded by the donors listed below:

The Panther Pride Foundation Scholarships -- a $500 scholarship to a student who plans to attend a four-year college and a $500 scholarship to a student who plans to attend a two-year college or vocational school.

The Anita and Neal Sherrick Family Scholarship -- a $200 to $300 (dependent upon the interest rate) to a student who plans to attend Knox, Culver Stockton, or University of Iowa.

The Rosemary Faulkner Memorial Scholarship – a $1,000 scholarship to a student who plans to attend a four-year college and major in music.

The Lions Club Scholarships -- Sponsored by the Camp Point, Clayton, Golden and Coatsburg-Paloma Lions Clubs -- Two $500 scholarships to students who plan to attend a vocational school.

The Farmers State Bank of Camp Point Scholarship -- a $1,000 scholarship. The student applying must submit a short essay on a topic chosen by the bank that highlights the importance of community banking to the local economy.

The Jason Leffringhouse Memorial Scholarship -- a $500 scholarship to a student with a C average or above and includes a short essay “My greatest ambition is…” explaining what ambition, dream or goals the student has upon graduation and how this scholarship would help.

The Eva Balk Memorial Scholarship – Two $500 scholarships. Students from the Clayton area will be given priority.

The Heubner #21 Scholarships – Two $1,021 scholarships. One to a high school senior boy in memory of Cory Heubner and one to a high school senior girl in memory of Cindy Heubner. Students who have participated in CHS weight room activities in high school will be given priority. Since Cindy and Cory held an unconditional love for family and friends. Cory was recognized for his academic and athletic excellence. A short essay on the student’s view of these important characteristics and how the weight room benefited them is included.

The Cory Wilkey Memorial Scholarship – a $500 scholarship and includes a short essay on the educational influences the student has had in the past and how this will affect their future.

Thomas Edwin Nielsen M.D. – Kathryn Sue Bohn M.D. Math Science Scholarship – a $500 scholarship. The top ten science and math students are eligible for this scholarship. Priority is given to students who plan to further their education and complete four years of college with a major in math or science. The scholarship includes a short paragraph of 250 words or less why they want to major in math or science.

The Cornelia Wysong Trust Memorial $500 Scholarship was presented in the years 2000 to 2002 to students from the Golden area.

The John Wood $250 scholarship was presented in the years 2005-2009 to a student who was enrolled at John Wood Community College.
